CAR yesterday sat down with Dany Bahar, the chief executive officer of Lotus Cars, to discuss the company's financial situation. He talked about the recent takeover of parent company Proton by DRB-Hicom and what it means for Lotus, the financial performance of Hethel and the latest on plans to launch the new Esprit supercar and all the other new Lotuses in the pipeline. Read on for CAR Magazine's full interview with Dany Bahar, split over the next three pages.

Renault FRENDZY Concept off to Frankfurt

Fri, 08 Jul 2011

The bi-polar Renault Frendzy Concept Nothing floats Renault’s boat quite as much as a pile of batteries attached to an electric motor. Unless it’s an off-the-wall concept heading for a motor show. Put the two together and you have a Renault designer’s wet dream.

German new car sales drop 11 per cent – pre-reg accounts for 33.5 per cent

Fri, 19 Oct 2012

New car sales in Germany dropped by 11 per cent in September with pre-reg cars accounting for over a third of all sales. That drop of 11 per cent in Germany is despite deep discount offers – an average of 12.2 per cent in September – with even the previously invincible Mercedes and VW having to offer discounts of up to €3k, despite which VW’s sales fell by 20 per cent in Germany and Mercedes by 12 per cent. What’s perhaps most interesting about the decline in car sales in Germany is the number of pre-reg cars sold (pre reg cars are cars registered by dealers to hit sales targets and then sold at a discount of up to 25 per cent).
