Students graduating from the Northumbria University BA (Hons) Transportation Design course based in Newcastle in the north east of England have shown their work at an exhibition entitled ‘New Designers'. Held the Business Design Centre in Islington, north London, the exhibition featured a series of schools displaying various thesis projects from their Art and Design programs. Much of the historic site will be sold and turned into offices and homes. It brings to an end a long and distinguished history of car and carriage making at Newport Pagnell - stretching all the way back to the 1820s.

John Fitch's Phoenix up for auction

John Cooper Fitch -- World War II hero, racer par excellence, safety pioneer, and all-around nice guy -- used to show off his Phoenix at the annual Greenwich Concours d'Elegance in southwestern Connecticut, not terribly far from his 1700s estate in his beloved Lime Rock. The Phoenix was his vision of an American Porsche, a strange mashup of a De Tomaso Pantera with Corvette Stingray. Twin humps on the fenders hid dual spare tires, different sizes for the front and rear.
