Porsche's next Cayenne and Panamera saloon will get petrol-electric hybrid engines, CAR Online can confirm, as the firm strives to reduce CO2 emissions. The sports car maker has gone on the attack, with tough new European Union guidelines on carbon emissions looming. Brussels has already announced it would like the average new car's emissions to total 130g/km of CO2 by 2012, and is now haggling with the industry about implementing the target.

Jaguar XE Configurator goes Live
Jaguar fully revealed the new XE – the car they hope will be a runaway success in the premium compact sector – at the Paris Motor SHow this week, and they’ve been quick to get a configurator for the XE live so potential buyers (and time-wasters) can get stuck in and see just what’s on offer. And there’s plenty to choose from. With a range of prices for the new XE starting at £26,995 for the XE 2.0i 200PS and rising to £44,870 for the XE 3.0i S/C 340PS, there’s an XE to suit a wide range of budgets.

There's no Jimmy Cliff or Flaming Lips in Kia's Super Bowl ad for the new Forte, but we can't help thinking they're the second company this week to miss out on co-opting seminal New Jersey punk outfit the Misfits' “We Are 138.”
While attaching the song to the unveiling of Ferrari's new F138 was a no-brainer from a numerically synergistic standpoint, the track's poppy brutality and ominous query, “Is it time to be an android, not a man?” dovetails perfectly with the rise-of-the-sexy-machines theme of the Kia clip. Clearly, the android in this spot -- portrayed by former Miss USA Alyssa Campanella -- has the upper hand over the poor schnook oiling up the new Forte with his greasy mitts. We can't help thinking the whole ad would've been better if the Misfits' original pint-size vocal dynamo Glenn Danzig had been involved somehow.
