Video shows Audi R18 'long tail' e-tron quattro's blistering Monza run
Tue, 30 Apr 2013Audi has had a pretty solid run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans over the past decade, but we're glad they keep pushing the envelope. That's how they keep devising road-going spaceships like the staggeringly fast R18 e-tron quatto equipped with a “long tail” aerodynamic package. This quick video of the “long tail” hybrid testing at Monza gives us a preview of what we can expect at Spa next month -- and hints at what we'll see at Le Mans in June.
John Entwistle’s Rolls Royce Silver Shadow ESTATE up for grabs
Thu, 29 Aug 2013John Entwistle’s Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Shooting Brake (pictured) up for sale Rolls Royce has never made an estate car – or Shooting Brake, as posh estates (and modern wannabes) tend to be badged – but that hasn’t stopped well-heeled owners from Maharajahs to rock stars turning Rolls Royces in to hunting and shooting transport for almost a hundred years. Taking the finest creations of Rolls and turning them in to a bespoke shooting brake is not a cheap hobby, but if you fancy a bit of gentrified rock ‘n’ roll history, Bonham’s have got The Ox’s (that’s John Entwistle, the Who bassist, for the younger readers) customised Silver Shadow Shooting Brake up for grabs. The Ox had the Rolls turned in to a Shooting Brake by an unknown coachbuilders back in the 1980s to carry his Irish Wolfhounds, and when he died as a result of a bit to much nose candy his Rolls Royce Shooting Brake was bought by the current owner from Entwistle’s wife.
Speed launches Internet channel as pipeline to show more races
Thu, 13 May 2010The Speed Channel, usually relegated to the upper-hundreds on the cable-channel spectrum, is launching a new broadband channel on the Internet. Speed2 will only be available to current Speed subscribers and will have at least a dozen race series that normally don't make it to the TV channel. Subscribers of the cable channel will go through a short authentication process to access the network.
