This is the all-new, third-generation Seat Leon C-segment hatchback. At 4,2600mm long, the 2013 Leon is approximately 50mm shorter than the previous model although the wheelbase has increased by almost 60mm, reducing the length of the overhangs and improving interior space, particularly for rear seat passengers and luggage compartment. Volkswagen is launching its own cut-price rival to those mud-loving Allroad models from Audi in May 2012 – the new Passat Alltrack 4motion. It's a Passat estate in a Barbour and green wellies, its ride height hoiked up and with 4motion all-wheel drive boosting traction for soft-roading and pulling horseboxes over slippery grass. VW quotes a two-tonne towing capacity – 200kg greater than an equivalent Passat estate.

PRE-WAR CARS MAY GET MOT TEST EXEMPTION

PRE-WAR vehicles may have their requirement for an annual MoT test removed, it has been suggested. A meeting between Transport Minister Mike Penning and members of the All Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicles Group, led by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, has resolved to address the issue. The extremely low accident rate for such vehicles, the vast majority of which are kept in pristine condition by avid collectors, means there is little need for a MoT test, the group argued.
