The Maybach Coupe Mercedes have really tried hard to get the world to love its Playstation on wheels dressed up in its finest woods and leathers and given the moniker of a long dead marque. But the wealthy of this world seem to have made it clear – the Maybach is a bit of a loser. It shouts too loud; it tries too hard and it costs too much.

Bugatti Veyron Centenaire heads for Geneva – Rumour!

I have to say rumour, because Bugatti are not exactly reliable with information! We’ve heard rumours before that they are producing a ‘Sang Noir’ version of the Targa-Topped Grand Sport, but they’ve gone quiet on that. But now we’re hearing solid rumours, as Bugatti is 100 years old this year, that they are going to be showing a very special anniversary edition of the Veyron – The Bugatti Veyron Centenaire – at Geneva ‘o9 next month.

It's difficult for Ariel to come up with a mid-life refresh for its cars - there simply aren't that many bits to fiddle with in the first place. Still, the boys from Somerset must have succeeded, because what we have here is the freshly updated Ariel Atom 3.5. As the name suggests, it's a development of the Ariel Atom 3, with a crop of minor visual  tweaks and some mechanical changes too, keeping Caterham and BAC looking over their shoulders.
