The Range Rover (pictured) and Range Rover Sport updated The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport both seem like ‘new’ Range Rovers, but that’s not stopping Land Rover from updating both models for 2015. Under the bonnet, the SDV8 gets tweaked to deliver an extra 29lb/ft of torque – now with 545lb/ft – and a fuller torque curve between 1700 and 3300rpm. The effect of that extra torque is an improvement of 6.5 per cent in in-gear acceleration from fifth to eighth gear and better towing ability.

Companies work with racing technology to improve child safety seats

The same technology that saved IndyCar driver Simona De Silvestro from serious injury in a recent crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway might soon be helping protect children in car seats. Dorel Juvenile Group, a car-seat manufacturer, is partnering with racing-product developers at Bald Spot Sports to use cockpit material that insulates racers from crashes in child-safety technology. Dorel makes child-safety items under brand names such as Safety 1st and Cosco.

2014 MINI leaks ahead of reveal MINI has been busy teasing the new MINI for a while, with an official reveal planned for later today to coincide with the 107th birthday of the Mini’s creator – Sir Alec Issigonis. But the best laid plans of MINI have garnered a bit of a wrinkle with the first official photos (above) of the new MINI leaking out online ahead of the official reveal. They don’t really tell us much we don’t already know – especially with the MINI Vision Concept previewing the new MINI – but do confirm the new MINI still looks as we would expect, just bigger and better equipped and based on a new BMW platform.
