THE PISTONS LACK POSITIVE SEATING FOR THE DIRECT CLUTCH RELEASE SPRINGS AND HAVE A NARROW WORK SURFACE APPLYING THE CLUTCH PACK. BOTH PISTONS ARE SHOWN IN THE PHOTO. THIS KIT INCLUDES A MODIFIED OEM TH400 DIRECT CLUTCH PISTON (WITHOUT CHECKBALL) WHICH PERMITS THE INSTALLATION OF SIX STANDARD THICKNESS .090"DIRECT CLUTCH PLATES AND SIX STANDARD THICKNESS .080" DIRECT STEEL PLATES IN THE OEM 4L80E DIRECT CLUTCH HOUSING. THIS IN ITSELF INCREASES THE DIRECT CLUTCH CAPACITY AS ALL OEM 4L80E TRANSMISSIONS ARE FIT WITH FIVE DIRECT CLUTCH PLATES. THIS PISTON FEATURES A WIDE WORK SURFACE IMPROVING DISTRIBUTION OF APPLY FORCE TRANSMITTED TO THE CLUTCH PACK.THE KIT ALSO INCLUDES A SET OF 16 HIGH RATE DIRECT CLUTCH APPLY/RELEASE SPRINGS WHICH ALLOW MAXIMUM PRESSURE VALUES IN THE DIRECT CLUTCH APPLY CIRCUIT TO BE OBTAINED BEFORE THE CLUTCH PACK APPLIES, VASTLY IMPROVING SHIFT QUALITY AND CLUTCH PACK CAPACITY. Wolfgang Durheimer, who took over as combined boss of Bugatti and Bentley in spring 2011, told CAR that being the fastest was a cornerstone of the modern Bugatti philosophy. 'It is vital that Bugatti produces the world's fastest car,' Durheimer said.
