Porsche celebrates 50 years of the 911 at Pebble Beach

Seven generations across 50 years; nobody has ever matched what Porsche has done with the 911. What started out as the Porsche 901 quickly became the 911 – and wouldn’t take long to become a legend. As one of the most accomplished road-going supercars ever created, it's easy to see why the 911 is also a consummate champion in the motorsport arena – and to celebrate that fact, at Pebble Beach 2013 there was a huge array of road and race 911s, courtesy of Porsche itself along with a stack of private owners.Click through the gallery to see our pick of these great cars...

Dream – Cars of the Future Since 1950

The city of Turin has been celebrating as World Design Capital 2008 this year with a series of over 200 separate events and exhibitions. One of the highlights has been a series of three themed shows running throughout the year, entitled '20th Century', 'Speed' and 'Dream'; the final exhibition of this trilogy. Housed at the Giovanni Agnelli Espositione - the wonderful Nervi-designed hall on Corso Massimo D'Azeglio that used to host the Salone di Torino in the 1950s - 'Dream' is a fabulous exhibition but, regrettably, one that hasn't been well publicized outside of Turin city.

Mercedes F125 concept (2011) at Frankfurt motor show

Mercedes today unveiled the F125 concept car - a car bearing the three-pointed star's F name to demark it as a tech testbed, and the 125 to mark Merc's 125th anniversary in this four-wheeled business. It's a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, and Merc claims a punchy 1000km (620-mile) range. But the scientists here are proud of the cutting edge lithium sulphur batteries, used to store energy created by the fuel-cell.
