BMW-Toyota partnership may yield hybrid Z4, new Supra

The BMW-Toyota sports-car lash-up has been reported on for a couple of years now, but new information from a report in the U.K.'s Autocar sheds more light on the future of the BMW Z4 and what this year's Toyota FT-1 concept will ultimately herald. Like the current Z4, its predecessor and the Z3 before it, as well as every generation of Supra, the new platform will feature a front-mounted gasoline engine. From there, things look to be diverging wildly as technology marches forward.

Concept Car of the Week: Mazda Taiki (2007)

Mazda had been doing fantastically well with its concepts since the end of 2006, and its offering for the 2007 Tokyo motor show didn't buck the trend. The fourth in the 'Nagare' series that explored the idea of 'Flow, it lined up on the Mazda stand with its older brothers for the first time, and was understandably a most impressive display and one of the highlights of this show. 2006 Interior Motives Design Awards

Now into its fourth year, the annual design awards ceremony hosted by Interior Motives magazine was held on the second press day of the 2006 Paris Motor Show. Open to any registered school, the competition encourages students to submit their work in any of nine different categories, with the emphasis on interior design. These categories are: Best Conceptual Interior Best Use of Technology Best Innovation Best Safety Innovation Best Lifestyle Interior Best Eco Design Concept Best Conceptual Exterior Best Production Interior Best Personalisation The prize for the 'Best Conceptual Interior' went to Iman Maghsoudi of Azad University, Iran.
