Infiniti's new M and hybrids at Geneva motor show
Wed, 03 Mar 2010Infiniti, Nissan’s upmarket wing, can finally have a serious stab at the European luxury car market after launching its Renault-based turbodiesel V6. Its pleasingly idiosyncratic range of cars – ultra modern, finely crafted and mostly fun to drive – have been hamstrung in the showrooms by a range of V6 and V8 petrol engines which have been designed for customers in Los Angeles or Boston, not London or Berlin. Concept Car of the Week: Ford Forty-Nine (2001)
Fri, 03 May 2013Over 1.3 million orders were placed for the 1949 Ford before it even went officially on sale. The revolutionary post-war design with slick slab sides and semi-covered wheels became a symbol of American optimism. "The inspiration for the Forty-Nine concept comes from the passion and excitement of the original, combined with the imagination of people across America who customized the car and turned it into what they thought a really great car should be," said J Mays, Ford's vice president of Design at the unveiling of the retro-futurist coupe back in 2001.
New Volkswagen Golf GTi at Geneva Motor Show 2013
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Volkswagen will unveil the production version of its MK7 Golf GTi at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, marking more than 30 years of the venerable hot hatch. This isn't the first time we've seen this car: back in September, Volkswagen showed a concept version of the GTi at the Paris Motor Show. Concept it might have been but a visit to Spec Savers is required before trying to spot the changes between that car and this production version.
