Concept Car of the Week: Ford 021C (1999)

As Australian-born designer Marc Newson this week joined Apple, we can only wish that he brings with him the same smart-yet-playful approach as he did with his radical Ford 021C concept. Presented at the 1999 Tokyo Motor Show, the project began when Marc Newson was commissioned by Ford global design director, J Mays, to create an innovative interior. Their mutual passion for design and their enthusiasm led to a much larger project and Newson eventually delivered a complete working prototype.

After a first day packed with fascinating discussions and opportunities for networking, delegates from around the world reconvened in anticipation of another day of presentations from some of the industry's biggest names. Session 5: Deep Dive Luxury The second day of the Interior Motives China conference began with a session on 'Deep dive luxury', chaired by Emma Booty of Conran. Volvo to launch new F1-inspired engine range

Volvo has revealed an all-new super-efficient range of engines called DRIVE-E. When launched later this year, the new motors will become some of the most high-tech engines on sale. Uniquely, the new engine range is based around just two basic four-cylinder designs – one direct-injection petrol engine and one common rail turbodiesel.
