Here we have a 9" Booster/Master Cylinder/Proportioning Valve Combo package for 1955-64 GM cars with a Disc/Disc brake set-up. Our part number is GPS4018 This combo is designed to fit the following applications......
The proportioning valve is set-up for disc/disc applications. The ports on the prop. valve are 3/8"-24 to the front brakes and 9/16"-18 to the rear brakes. The booster and brackets are chrome plated steel, the master cylinder is polished aluminum with a chrome plated cover, the proportioning valve is aluminum. A push rod, bench bleeding kit and warning light plug are included. The three biggest brake system issues tends to be improper bench/system bleeding, brake pedal ratio and vacuum to the booster. We include a bench bleeding kit and instructions. Read them and use them. If you are converting from manual brakes to power brakes you need to address the pedal ratio issue. Manual brake pedals have a ratio of 6-1 to 7-1. Power brakes normally are in the 4-1 to 5-1 ratio. It's possible you won't have enough pedal travel with a manual brake pedal or it may give an overly sensitive pedal. A brake booster works off of engine vacuum. If you don't have 17 -18 inches of vacuum available to the booster, it ain't gonna work! There are 12 volt vacuum pumps on the market today to cure this problem.
