What Car? True MPG reveals most fuel-efficient cars

We’ve known for a while that there’s a huge gulf between the official fuel economy figures for new cars and what drivers achieve in the real world. What Car? says that its True MPG tests provide a more realistic figure and over the past two years it has tested almost 400 cars. Now, it has revealed which 10 cars proved most efficient its True MPG tests, so if you’re hoping to spend less at the fuel pumps, these cars could be well worth a look.

Lincoln aims at luxury crossovers with MKT

In an effort to grow the brand to customers who normally buy imports, Lincoln will offer up a full-size crossover, the MKT, that is due in dealerships in late summer. We saw the Lincoln MKT at the Detroit Auto Show. As sales of full-size sport/utility vehicles decline--Lincoln says industry-wide sales are down 5.2 percent for 2008--sales of crossovers are growing.

As expected, it's a straightforward decapitation of the thrill-seeking 370Z Coupe, with a good, old-fashioned canvas soft-top in keeping with the Zed's no-nonsense character.There's structural reinforcement in the A-pillars and side sills to counter the lack of roof, but Nissan says numerous body panels are made from aluminium to keep weight in check. The bonnet, door panels and bootlid are all crafted from the lightweight metal and there are individual, fixed roll bars behind each seat.Providing the fun is the 327bhp/270lb ft 3.7-litre V6 with variable valve lift and the choice of a seven-speed auto or six-speed manual transmission.
