Crew overboard light automatically rights itself and activates when in the water with the reliable gravity switch. Provides a minimum of 3 candela of light with its 360° high-intensity Xenon strobe. UV-stable PVC housing. Uses a 6V screw-terminal battery (Model 4545638) to deliver a 60-hour signal. Includes bulkhead bracket mount. USCG and SOLAS approved.

Car insurance cost at four-year low

THE COST of insuring a car has fallen to a four-year low as motorists benefit from a record 19% drop in average premiums compared with a year ago. The Confused.com car insurance price index, in association with Towers Watson, reveals the average cost of comprehensive car insurance in the first quarter stood at £596, a drop of £140 against this time last year. The figure, including a reduction of 7.5% on the previous quarter, means that average premiums have dipped below £600 for the first time since late 2009.

Alex Mair, retired head of GM technical staff, Pontiac and GMC, dies

Alex Mair, former group executive in charge of General Motors' technical staffs and general manager of the automaker's Pontiac and GMC divisions, died Sunday in Orange City, Fla. He was 91. Mair was named group executive of GM's technical staffs in November 1978 and remained in that position until he retired in 1986.
