Hyundai shifts Santa Fe production to Kia plant to get more Sonatas
Mon, 23 Aug 2010Hyundai Motor America is shifting production of its Santa Fe crossover to the Georgia plant of its corporate cousin, Kia Motors America, to free up production for more high-demand Hyundai Sonatas in Alabama. New workers have been hired at Kia's plant in West Point, Ga., to build the Santa Fe on a second production line, said a source familiar with the situation. The Santa Fe is now built at Hyundai's Montgomery, Ala., plant, which also builds the Sonata sedan.
Ferrari sets personal best in China
Wed, 05 Jan 2011It was a solid year for Ferrari in the burgeoning Chinese car market in 2010, as the Italian dream maker racked up its most impressive sales in that country with a tally of 300 cars. Sales were up almost 50 percent compared with 2009 results. With 10 current dealerships and the addition of some new business partners, Ferrari expects the added sales for Hong Kong and Taiwan will elevate the region to one of the company's top five international markets.

Fri, 26 Dec 2008When Ford unveiled the Fairlane concept in 2005, the company attempted to "rewrite the people mover story", according to Group Vice President of Design and Chief Creative Officer, J Mays. The Minivan, once the symbol of suburban America, had fallen out of favor - its dowdy, "soccer mom" image eschewed in exchange for upscale, aggressive SUVs. According to Mays, the idea with the Fairlane was to "move people emotionally as well as physically", something few minivans had done before.
