Honda's Asimo robot celebrates its 10th birthday

Way back in 2000, after 14 years of research, ASIMO was born 31 October. It might have been another three years before Honda's humanoid robot was unveiled to the public, but to celebrate the landmark date ten years on, Honda has launched a website dedicated to the robot and all it has achieved over the past decade. Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept with 395bhp heading for Beijing

The VW Golf R 400 can hit 62mph in 3.9 seconds Volkswagen usually reserve their extreme concepts for the Worthersee Show, but they’re heading to next week’s Beijing Motor Show with a very extreme Golf R. The VW Golf R 400 Concept takes the regular Golf R – perhaps the most ‘grown-up’ hot hatch you can buy – and not only adds more power but extreme styling too. That means the 2.0 litre turbo 4-cylinder engine in the Golf R being crankes up to deliver 395bhp (400PS) which cuts the 0-62mph time by a full second over the production Golf R with the DSG ‘box to a supercar-bashing 3.9 seconds.

Chinese car firm set to expand

CHINA’S newest car brand, aimed at the luxury end of the booming Chinese car market, is to release a second model to its range. Qoros, which introduced the 3 Sedan at the 2013 Geneva and Shanghai motor shows, is set to introduce the as-yet unnamed model in March, again at the Geneva show. Among the manufacturer’s claims are that the new car will boast European levels of materials quality, as well as advanced technology like an eight-inch touch-screen display and a Cloud-based infotainment system.
