Festival of the Unexceptional: the bad cars we love
Mon, 28 Apr 2014Ever been to a classic car show and noticed how many old MGBs and sports cars of yesteryear have turned up, driven by their proud owners, but wondered what happened to all the more mainstream stuff? There are twice as many Ferrari 308 GTBs on the roads in the UK than Austin Allegros, because the everyday cars of the past fail MOTs, get chucked away and replaced with shiny new hatchbacks. Cadillac CTS-V priced to undercut M5, XFR
Wed, 21 Jan 2009By Gareth Evans Motor Industry 21 January 2009 10:17 Cadillac’s new CTS-V supersaloon – claimed to be the be the most powerful Cadillac ever built – will undercut its European competition by several thousand pounds. Prices will start at £56,495, positioning the new Cadillac CTS-V just below the new Jaguar XF-R (£59,900) and comfortably undercutting German rivals such as the BMW M5 (£63,325) and Audi RS6 (a fulsome £74,550). Performance figures for the CTS-V make interesting reading, with 60mph being dispatched in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 191mph for the manual car (175mph for the automatic).
Infiniti M (2009): first official photos
Sat, 15 Aug 2009By Tim Smith First Official Pictures 15 August 2009 03:00 This is the new M saloon, Infiniti’s challenger in the German-dominated executive sector. The new 2010 Infiniti M was ‘virtually’ unveiled today at the glitzy 59th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. The new saloon is the third-generation Infiniti M for American and Japanese buyers – but will also come to UK and European showrooms for the first time when it goes on sale in September 2010. The new M will offer American buyers a choice of either a 316bhp 3.7-litre V6 M37, or a 420bhp 5.6-litre V8, badged M56.
