And because it’s a Subaru the concept features symmetrical AWD and a 3.6-litre boxer engine. Subaru itself is fairly open, admitting the concept 'is a hint at the future of Legacy design.

But it would seem to us that Porsche is going to have another Cayenne-like success on its hands with the Panamera. As with the Cayenne, its looks are criticised, but it does everything else so remarkably well, and has the kudos of the Porsche badge, and it’s hard to see how it will fail.

And a recent shortage of replacement heads means some customers have been without their vehicles for weeks, some dealers say. Chrysler is paying for their rental cars.
