The anti-drink-drive car

By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 03 August 2007 02:25 Nissan today unveiled its answer to drink-driving: the car that monitors the driver's alcohol level before every journey and stops you if you're about to break the law. Boffins at the Japanese firm have equipped a domestic market Fuga with monitoring equipment that can spot if a driver has been boozing. It's so sophisticated, engineers claim it can differentiate between perfume (which often contains alcohol) and tell if it's the driver or the passengers that have been drinking.

Alfa Romeo MiTo Turismo Sport launched

The Alfa Romeo MiTo Turismo Sport Don’t get barkingly excited, this isn’t a barn-storming MiTo in the mould of the much anticipated – but not yet materialised – MiTo GTA. It is in fact a Limited Edition Alfa MiTo based on the MiTo Turismo with £1,610 worth of extras bolted on and available with a petrol or oil burning engine. Kia has revealed the 2011 Kia Optima / Kia Magentis ahead of a reveal at the New York Motor Show in April You might reasonably expect that Kia are teasing the 2011 Kia Magentis (or Kia Optima, as it is in the US) ahead of a reveal at the Geneva Motor Show. After all, every other car maker is at it at the moment. But Kia are teasing this ahead of the next big motor show after Geneva – the 2010 New York Motor Show – which isn’t until April.
