Iowa distributes thumb bands imprinted with ‘TXTING KILLS'

Thumb bands that read “TXTNG KILLS” have been making their way around the state of Iowa, the Wall Street Journal reports. The bands--which are meant to serve as a reminder to avoid texting while driving--have been distributed at events such as the Iowa State Fair and the Iowa-Iowa State college football game. “A lot of people want them for their kids,” Courtney Greene, spokeswoman for Iowa's Department of Public Safety, told the Wall Street Journal.

Saab owner and Chinese investors continue talks regarding takeover deal

Talks between Saab's owner Swedish Automobile and two Chinese investors on a takeover deal to rescue the ailing carmaker will continue even though a memorandum of understanding signed by the parties only runs until Tuesday, Saab said. "They (the parties) are still in discussions about the structure of the deal going forward and they are continuing their cooperation as if the memorandum of understanding continues," Gunilla Gustavs, a Saab spokeswoman, told Automotive News Europe. Cars recalled in fire risk alert

MORE THAN 400 recently-bought Peugeot and Citroen cars are being recalled in the UK due to a possible fuel leak and fire risk. Affecting models including the Peugeot 208 and 308 and the Citroen C4, the recall is necessary as during manufacture the high-pressure fuel rail pipes were not tightened correctly. This may have resulted in poor sealing of the rail and fuel leaking on to the engine, which could result in an engine bay fire.
