Mercedes E300 BlueTEC Hybrid and E400 Hybrid Detroit debut

Mercedes E300 BlueTEC Hybrid Mercedes has revealed a pair of hybrid E-Class cars bound for a Detroit debut – the E300 BlueTec hybrid for Europe and E400 Hybrid for the US. All car maker are busy introducing hybrid platforms where they can, especially for their big-selling cars, and MB is no different, with a pair of new Mercedes Hybrid cars bound for a debut at next month’s Detroit Auto Show. The Mercedes E300 BlueTec Hybrid is the offering for Europe, although it wouldn’t be a huge shock if Mercedes eventually launched it in the US.

Volvo V40 range gets new Drive-E engines

From May this year Volvo will update its V40 model, equipping the premium Swedish hatchback with its range of high-efficiency Drive-E engines and Volvo’s latest eight-speed automatic gearbox. This means the revised V40 line-up now offers an impressive performance to efficiency ratio, with 190hp on offer in the D4 turbodiesel variant, returning a claimed 74.3mpg combined with 99g/km CO2 when mated to the six-speed manual. The new 2013 Dacia Sandero 2 – a Fiesta sized budget offering – has been revealed ahead of a public debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Yesterday we had news of Renault’s cut-price Dacia Logan – which may come to the UK – and today we get news of the Dacia Sandero 2 – beloved by James May – which will debut at Paris at the end of the month and is definitely heading for the UK. The Sandero has been a big-seller throughout Europe for years but now, with the launch of the Sandero 2, Dacia has decided the time is right to make their budget supermini available in the UK alongside the new Dacia Duster SUV.
