University of Huddersfield Degree Show 2010

The University of Huddersfield Transportation Design course recently exhibited the work of this year's graduating students as part of the School of Art and Design degree show. Huddersfield's course is very much a transportation – rather than purely automotive design-based degree – and the work of this year's graduating class therefore spans a broad range of projects, from automotive design, bikes and trains through to work that draws strongly from the world of product and interior design. Land Rover LRS-1 Paul Davey Research into the history of the Land Rover Defender, which included extensive research with owners old and new, led Davey down the route of defining a new entry-level model for the company.

New Mitsubishi Mirage: Price from £8,999

The new Mitsubishi Mirage City Car – which replaces the Colt in Mitsubishi’s lineup – will cost from £8,999 in the UK for the Mirage 1.0L. Replacing the Colt in Mitsubishi’s lineup, the new Mirage offers a compact and economical option for buyers with a choice of two engines – 1.0 litre and 1.2 litre 3-cylinder – and three spec levels – Mirage, Mirage 2 and Mirage 3. Preview: Porsche Panamera

After what has already been the most drawn-out model introduction ever (the initial Porsche sketches of the new model having been revealed in 2005), Porsche has finally released the first official rendering of its forthcoming Panamera sedan, set to be launched in 2009. Though the plan view doesn't show much of the new Porsche's design, the company says the features will 'include a wide and low body offering dynamic proportions and muscular design'. But while the grand tourer will have a 'compact overall look', the interior space is claimed to offer a brand-new experience of roominess, with two single seats and generous headroom at the rear allowing adults to sit in comfort.
