I don't have the light that goes inside it, but it has a hole for one and the compass is made to be used with it.
It can be used for actual navigation or it can be a cool marine decoration.
The holding cup was painted at some point and some of that paint is worn off.
Its a nice quality compass, Good used condition, has some wear to it but is fully functional.

MINI JCW Cabrio with Paddy Hopkirk and Rauno Altonen in Monte Carlo
So MINI thought it would be a great idea to get these two Rally greats together and take them back to the scene of their former triumphs. Only this time they sent them to Monte Carlo in a brand new MINI John Cooper Works Cabriolet to drive round part of the Rally stage. This is properly good video from MINI, with some great cutting between the classic Mini in action and the legendary pair driving and reminiscing.

Volkswagen Group's decision to take full control of Porsche Automobil Holding SE's carmaking business is seen as positive by analysts. VW said it has agreed to buy the remaining 50.1 percent of Porsche SE's automotive business that it doesn't already own for 4.46 billion euros ($5.54 billion), ending a seven-year takeover saga that divided two of Germany's most powerful families. The agreement means Volkswagen can now fully fold the Porsche automaking business into its stable of brands, which range from Audi and Bentley sedans to Skoda and Seat volume models and Ducati motorbikes.
