CAR interviews Dany Bahar on the crisis at Lotus (2012)

CAR yesterday sat down with Dany Bahar, the chief executive officer of Lotus Cars, to discuss the company's financial situation. He talked about the recent takeover of parent company Proton by DRB-Hicom and what it means for Lotus, the financial performance of Hethel and the latest on plans to launch the new Esprit supercar and all the other new Lotuses in the pipeline. Toyota files for 'Supra' trademark

Adding more grist to the new-Toyota-sports-car mill, the automaker has filed with the USPTO for a “Supra” trademark covering “Automobiles and structural parts thereof.” On one hand, it's routine for companies to protect their dormant trademarks; Toyota previously filed to protect the "Supra" mark back in 2010; that protection expired on January 27th of this year. The new filing was made on Feburary 10th, in the midst of the post-Detroit, FT-1 enthusiast froth. We can't help but hold out hope that there's a bit more weight behind this application than simple maintenance of the status quo.

Pierre Authier: I'm not moving to Opel/Vauxhall

As the ongoing General Motors designer saga continues, the latest Opel/Vauxhall Vice President of Design elect, Pierre Authier has taken his name off the shortlist for the Rüsselsheim. Car Design News had received information from a reliable source within PSA about Authier's supposed move, however we have since spoken to Pierre, who was keen to put the record straight: “I read the flattering article on my recruitment as VP of Design for Opel/Vuaxhall, but this information is false,” he told CDN. “I am really enjoying my position at Peugeot and with the 208 family team that has made such incredible work.” The search for the missing piece in the GM puzzle continues.
