Every August, car nuts from around the globe congregate on the Monterey Peninsula, on the west coast of America, to pay homage to the internal combustion engine. A series of events is run, culminating in the most prestigious concours in the world – Pebble Beach. Over the next few days we’ll be bringing you coverage of the key events and some of the smaller ones too, all leading up the grand finale.

This is the new Porsche Panamera Turbo S, and because the GT2 RS has sold out, it’s now the most powerful Porsche on sale. Porsche Panamera Turbo S: the numbers The new Porsche Panamera Turbo S is powered by the same direct injection and twin-turbo 4.8-litre V8 that’s found in the regular Panamera Turbo. But thanks to new turbochargers with titanium-aluminium turbine wheels (which cut weight and improve responsiveness) and a new ECU, the power output climbs from an already impressive 493bhp and 516lb ft to 550bhp and 553lb ft.

Lotus evolves with moving art

WITH VIDEO -- With five new concepts dotting its stand at the Paris motor show, Lotus demonstrated that it knows a bit about metamorphosis. Now, the automaker has collaborated with French artist Gerard Rancinan and writer Caroline Gaudriault for a moving art display for a VIP event in Los Angeles. Rancinan specializes in art of the human form while Gaudriault is a journalist by trade who has worked in Japan, Australia and France.
