WHAT CAR? has named the Volkswagen Golf as its Used Car of the Year 2013 and its Used Family Car of the Year in its annual awards. The judges praised the Golf’s impressive cabin quality and refinement, comfort, driveability, running costs and its impressive safety credentials.

Ford S-Max concept

Ford has released details of its S-Max concept ahead of its official debut at the Frankfurt motor show next month. Building on the success of the current-generation S-Max, the concept (surely more a pre-production show car than a true concept) continues the low, long and sporty twist on the SUV recipe that has made it such a hit in Europe. So it retains the monovolume outline with a soft transition from hood to windscreen and the tapered roofline.

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera teases Geneva concept car

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has released a teaser image of its 2012 Disco Volante Concept, which will debut at next month's Geneva motor show. In 1952, the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring teamed up with Alfa Romeo to create a series of special-bodied cars to trial new technologies as well as being easily adaptable for racing. Perhaps the most famous (and beautiful) was the 1952 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante (C52) which was based on the Alfa 1900, with both coupe and Spider convertible bodies produced.
