Ford to open Silicon Valley lab
Fri, 06 Jan 2012Ford Motor Co., aiming to keep ahead of technology trends, will establish a research lab in the heart of California's Silicon Valley. The automaker said Friday the lab will open near Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., in the first few months of this year. Ford wants the lab to take on a start-up feel and expand beyond the traditional automaker mindset to encourage innovation and improve mobility and safety.
Fisker delays Atlantic production start to 2014-2015
Tue, 16 Oct 2012Fisker Automotive will start production of the Atlantic in late 2014 or 2015, according to a Reuters report. That's two years later than the planned production start of the midsized gasoline-electric sedan. “The Atlantic is really the volume car that begins to build growth,” Fisker CEO Tony Posawatz said during a conference call with investors and analysts.

Speaking today (Tuesday 3 March), GM chief operating officer Fritz Henderson revealed that insolvency loomed, due to the plunge in European car sales and GM’s liquidity crisis in North America. He ruled out a swift cash injection from private investors, saying that no talks had taken place and that lengthy negotiations and due diligence would take too long.
