BMW introduces diesel 2015 X3 before Chicago Auto Show

BMW's successful X3 SUV is getting new features for 2015, the company said on Wednesday before the Chicago Auto Show. For the first time in the U.S., a diesel engine will be offered on the midsized 'ute, as will a lower-cost rear-wheel drive model. The BMW X3 xDrive28d -- quite a mouthful -- will deliver 180 hp and a robust 280 lb-ft of torque using a 2.0-liter, TwinPower turbo diesel engine.

Winners of the 'Ultimate LA Machine' Design Challenge announced

 The judges of the Los Angeles Auto Show's Design Challenge have named the Dodge Superbee and Volkswagen Mobile Lounge as joint-winners of the first ever automobile design studio competition. Designer Reto Brun of Volkswagen/Audi Design Center California said his studio considered two Los Angeles issues when designing the Volkswagen Mobile Lounge - an antidote to traffic and a better option for the area's "limo-centric" entertainment culture. Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG wagon revealed ahead of Paris motor show debut

Mercedes-Benz has followed the public debut of the standard CLS Shooting Brake wagon at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed with the unveiling of a potent 518-hp AMG version. But like the CLS wagon, the CLS63 AMG wagon won't be coming to the United States. Set to reach European showrooms in October after a formal reveal at the Paris motor show, the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake is powered by the same turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 gasoline engine as the CLS63 AMG sedan.
