Concept Car of the Week: BMW Spicup (1969)
Fri, 19 Apr 2013The oddly named Spicup, standing for Spider and Coupé, was first presented at the 1969 Geneva Motor Show. Carozzeria Bertone had previous collaborations with BMW such as the 3200CS coupe by Giugiaro. The friendship between Nuccio Bertone and Willhelm Hoffmeister, head of bodywork construction at BMW, must have also contributed to the brand agreeing to provide an early pre-production of the E3 generation 2500 saloon as a base for the concept.
Toyota recalls Highlander hybrid, Lexus RX 400h
Wed, 29 Jun 2011Toyota is recalling about 82,000 hybrid vehicles in the United States to fix a flawed control board inside the powertrain. The recall covers about 45,000 Toyota Highlander hybrids and 36,700 Lexus RX 400h hybrids from the 2006 and 2007 model years. Toyota says some of the transistors on the control board might have been improperly soldered and could be damaged from large current flow during high-load driving.
General Motors names Docherty as LaNeve's replacement
Thu, 08 Oct 2009General Motors has named Susan Docherty its new vice president of U.S. sales, replacing Mark LaNeve, according to CEO Fritz Henderson. “She brings a fresh perspective to the job and she has an extraordinarily high level of energy,” Henderson said in an interview with Automotive News.
