Mercedes To The Rescue This Winter

WITH the winter weather already resulting in plunging temperatures, Mercedes is reminding us that it’s time to switch to winter tyres. Although still a rare thing in the UK compared to other European countries, manufacturers and tyre companies are hoping that UK motorists will eventually embrace cold weather tyre technology. When fitted, the tyres can help deliver shorter braking distances in low grip and cold conditions.

As we’ve said before, the Aston Martin Rapide has been so long coming it feels like it’s already here. But it’s not, despite the spy pictures of the Rapide we’ve seen, and now comes the first official picture – apparently. We’ve seen an ‘official’ Aston Martin Rapide image before, but this looks more convincing, even though it is obviously a rendering.

Detroit Electric unveils the SP:01

Detroit Electric unveiled its SP:01 electric sports car April 3 in Detroit. The Lotus-based roadster claims 201 hp from its mid-mounted electric motor and a range of up to 180 miles from its lithium-polymer battery pack. The company is headquartered in Detroit’s Fisher Building; it’s led by former Lotus Engineering and Lotus Group execs Albert Lam, Don Graundstadt and Benjamin Boycott.
