2011 VW Eos Facelift revealed

The VW Eos gets a tweak for 2011

Please, don’t get too excited. This is more of a rhinoplasty than a facelift; more about putting the latest family nose on Volkswagens’s Coupe Cabriolet than anything else.

So what exactly is the extent of the changes to the 2011 VW Eos? As we said, the main features to change are at the front. There’s a wider air intake at the bottom with a new chrome-trimmed grill above. There’s a set of LED running lights and some new fogs which conspire to make the Eos more Golf-like.

There are some changes out back – slightly re-profiled bumper and squarer lights – and there’s the smallest of tweaks to the interior with talk of more ‘Premium’ materials (a common theme on almost every press release at the moment), a new steering wheel and instrument panel and some extra leather options.

None of which is going to set the world on fire, but the Eos is a decent enough – if a little bland – Coupe Cabriolet, and the changes will keep it fresh for a bit longer.

In terms of the oily stuff, VW UK hasn’t enlightened us. But in Euro land the options are a 138bhp diesel and a trio of petrols – 120bhp, 158bhp and 207bhp. All come as standard with a six-speed manual, but you can opt for a 6-speed DSG ‘box on the diesel or the 207bhp, 2.0 litre TSI.

Nothing startling. Just a titivate.
