2012 Porsche Cayenne GTS

The latest iteration of the Porsche Cayenne GTS – a sportier take on the Cayenne – will debut at the Beijing Motor Show.

Porsche feels it’s time to roll out the GTS treatment for the latest version of the Cayenne, so pencil-in the Beijing Motor Show later this month for the debut of the 2012 Porsche Cayenne GTS.

The GTS version of a Porsche usually bows in after the range has had a year or two to bed in and offers a sportier, harder-edged version of the standard Porsche offering; fitting in the range between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo.

The 2012 Cayenne GTS follows the GTS formula faithfully with power from the naturally aspirated V8 in the Cayenne S increased to 414bhp in the GTS, giving it the ability to sprint to 62mph in 5.7 seconds and 100mph in 13.3 seconds.

Porsche say the Cayenne GTS is ‘Sitting like in an SUV, driving like in a sports car’, and they’re not wrong. Even though the Turbo is a chunk quicker, the GTS always feels more driver orientated. That’s thanks to a tweaked chassis with PASM and a lower ride height (by 24mm), as well as the extra power.

The Cayenne GTS also shouts its intentions, with a nose borrowed from the Cayenne Turbo, bulging side skirts and wider wheel arches and a twin-wing roof spoiler at the back. Inside is GTS-sporty too with leather and Alcantara and sports seats in the front.
