2015 Corvette Stingray Z06 will debut at Detroit auto show

Wed, 04 Dec 2013

Happy with your 2014 Corvette Stingray? Well, good for you -- and enjoy the buzz while it lasts. True to Vette tradition, the release of one model means that a bigger, badder version is just around the corner. Sure enough, Chevrolet has just confirmed that the 2015 Corvette Z06 will debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show. That's just a few short weeks away.

We published spy photos of the Z06 testing earlier this year, and the single teaser image Chevy released of the upcoming Vette seems to confirm that some of the details we saw -- like a more aggressive rocker panel treatment and black multispoke wheels -- will make the jump to production. Expect the high-performance theme to carry over to other areas, like the front fascia.

We liked the 2013 Corvette Z06's 505 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque and the track-ready setup that kept the whole package balanced. If the new Z06 improves on the old to the degree that the C7 has already improved on the C6, we're going to love this thing when it arrives. Production is expected to begin in late 2014.
