2015 Land Rover Discovery range gets updates from the XXV Special Edition DiscoveryThu, 12 Jun 2014
The last hurrah for the Discovery 4 (pictured) means more luxury options
No, this isn’t news on the new Land Rover Discovery family of cars, but a bit of titivation for the current Discovery 4 before production comes to an end. Earlier this year Land Rover revealed the Discovery XXV Special Edition to celebrate 25 years of the Discovery, based it on the range-topping HSE Luxury spec and then added more gloss. And now some of that gloss is being extended across the current Discovery range as Land Rover tries to keep sales buoyant ahead of the current car’s demise.
So you’ll now be able to add the option of Ebony/Cirrus Dual-tone Windsor Leather seats and the Grand Black Lacquer wood and leather-wrapped steering wheel, a new straight grained walnut and leather steering wheel and additional wood trim options for the interior.
Outside, you can option the 20-inch 5-split spoke forged alloy wheels from the XXV Edition as well as Aruba, Kaikoura Stone and Montalcino Red paint jobs now and a new Yulong metallic white before long too.
In terms of technology, you can also have Land Rover’s InControl Apps which works with the existing Infotainment to offer real integration with Apple and Android phones to bring in-car Apps for stuff like SatNav, internet radio, media streaming and much more.
Hobson’s choice in the UK for engines is the SDV6 3.0 litre diesel with 252 bhp and 442 lb/ft of torque, although other markets do offer the lower-powered TDV6 diesel as well as the new 3.0 litre supercharged petrol.
Phil Popham, JLR Group MD, said:
To mark 25 years of Discovery, Land Rover offered more premium luxury in the form of the XXV Special Edition. Striking attributes from this anniversary derivative are now being made available across the range for our customers to bring that level of heightened luxury into their Discovery of choice.
All the extra goodies are available to option now on the Discovery for delivery starting in September.
