AC Schnitzer shows off polizei-spec ACS4 2.8i Coupe

The Essen Motor Show is underway. Essen is Europe's version of SEMA, with hundreds of tuning companies showing their wares. And for this year's event, BMW tuner AC Schnitzer has rolled out its version of the 2014 4-series, dubbed the ACS4 2.8i Coupe, in polizei spec, no less. The car has been created as part of the Association of German Vehicle Tuners initiative called TUNE IT! SAFE! which along with the German Ministry for Transport, Construction, and Urban Development has been advocating responsible tuning technologies since 2005. The last TUNE IT! SAFE! car we saw was Brabus' Mercedes-Benz G-class-based B63S - 700 Widestar for the Dubai police force at last month's Dubai auto show. So even though the AC Schnitzer show car is wearing a police livery, the ACS4 2.8i Coupe is very much meant for civilian consumers.

The ACS4 2.8i Coupe makes 294 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.

AC Schnitzer's ACS4 2.8i Coupe has been built to generate 294-hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, courtesy of its four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, up from 245 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. The upgraded 428i now makes the sprint to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds -- and that's with the (admittedly modest) weight and aerodynamic penalties of all the police gear.
