Are Bugatti plotting a Final Edition ‘Super’ Veyron?
Sun, 23 Jun 2013Will the power of the Veyron Super Sport (pictured) grow to 1500bhp?
The rumours that the Bugatti Veyron would, at some point, get more than its original 100bhp or so have been around seen the Veyron first launched.
Eventually, Bugatti delivered and we got the Veyron Super Sport – with 1200bhp – back in 2010 which was, inevitably, followed by the convertible version in the guise of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse sporting 1200bhp and a hole to let the sky in. But even though Bugatti delivered a more powerful Veyron, the rumours still persist that more is to come before the Veyron hangs up its hat. In fact, talk to almost any Bugatti ‘insider’ and they’ll tell you that an even more powerful Veyron is possible – and that’s exactly what Autocar did this week.
They managed to find a Bugatti man to confirm they wanted to produce an even more powerful version of the Veyron before its time is up, and they have managed to extrapolate a lot of ‘detail’ from that notion.
Detail like a price of £5 million, a shaving of 200kg in weight, a new top speed of 280mph and power of 1500bhp. All from the Bugatti man saying that a more powerful Veyron was possible.
Will Bugatti build a more powerful Veyron before production ends? Highly likely. Will it be to the specs Autocar have cobbled together?
Frankly, your guess is just as good as theirs.
