An arrest has been made in an apparent theft of a piece of the destroyed Porsche Carrera GT involved in a Saturday crash in California that killed actor Paul Walker, CNN is reporting. A number of cars had reportedly followed the tow truck that was transporting the wreckage to a police facility. When the truck stopped at a red light, the occupant of one of the vehicles, alleged to be 18-year-old Jameson Witty, ran up to the truck and retrieved a piece of the wreckage, a T-top roof panel of the red Carrera GT, He later posted a photo of it on Instagram.

"A witness saw a male exit a vehicle that was following the tow truck," a Los Angeles Sheriff's department spokesperson said on Friday after Witty was taken into custody. "The male grabbed a piece of the wrecked Porsche off the tow truck bed."

The suspect was said to have been a passenger, and police have also sought the driver of the car from which the suspect emerged to grab a piece of the wreckage. The police are said to be communication with the driver of an unidentified vehicle, who is out of state but is in communication with police to turn himself in.

"Piece of Paul walkers car, took it off a tow truck at a stop light." Jameson Witty allegedly wrote on Instagram after posting a photo of the part taken from the two truck.

Crash investigators has asked the district attorney to consider pressing charges of felony grand theft and tampering with evidence against both the suspect and his alleged driver.

As we've previously reported, "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker was killed in crash in a Southern California office park last Saturday afternoon along with driver and business partner Roger Rodas. Investigators said that speed was a factor in the crash that took the lives of both men, with both succumbing to injuries and the fire that shortly followed the crash as the car struck a light pole and a tree.
