Aston Martin Vantage upgraded for 2012

Wed, 22 Feb 2012

Aston Martin's Vantage receives upgrades for 2012, with the base Vantage V8 getting the most attention.

The Vantage V8 retains the 4.7-liter, 420-hp V8 and six-speed manual as standard equipment, but it now will be offered with the optional seven-speed Sportshift II from the Vantage S. The automatic transmission has closer ratios, a lower final drive ratio and quicker shifts than the previous Sportshift unit.

The Vantage V8 also has an improved steering ratio, 15-inch, two-piece front disc brakes, 0.4-inch-wider tires and exterior treatments from the sportier Vantage S.

The improvements to the Vantage V8 are reflected in the price of $133,267.

The Vantage S gets more standard equipment and 10 hp more. To further differentiate it, the Vantage S can be equipped with a carbon-fiber-detailed aerodynamics package.

If power is what you seek, the Vantage V12 is still available, with its 6.0-liter, 510-hp engine that delivers a top speed of 190 mph.

Those looking for the pinnacle of the Vantage line can opt for the V12 Zagato, a combination of bespoke Italian design and Aston Martin technology. It will premiere in production trim at the Geneva motor show in March.
