Audi A5 TDIe offers more efficient engines in Sportback & Coupe

Audi has made the A5 Coupe and Sportback even more efficient with two new TDIe engines and SE Technik specification option.

We’ve only just reported the powerful BiTurbo 3.0 litre diesel engines for the Audi A6 and A7, and now we get news from Audi of diesel engines at the other end of the spectrum with new, more efficient TDIe engines for the Audi A5 Coupe and A5 Sportback.

The new efficient TDIe engines come in either a 136PS or 163PS versions, with fuel economy as impressive as 64.2mpg in the A5 Sportback 2.0 TDIe 136PS. Emissions are decent too, with the same model emitting 117g/km and it can still manage to get to 62mph in 9.5 seconds.

Opt for the 163PS version in the A5 Sportback and economy drops just a little – to 62.8mpg – and performance improves, with a 0-62,ph of 8.7 seconds. Emissions are 118g/km.

The 163 PS version is also available in the A5 Coupe, where performance is even better, at 8.4 seconds 0-60mph, economy improves to 64.2mpg and emissions drop to 115g/km. Very much a cake and eat it scenario.

As well as the 136PS and 163PS versions of the new TDIe. there’s also a new specification option - SE Technik.

SE Technik is available on all A5 Sportback and Coupe 4-pot models at £1,000 over SE spec on the Sportback and £500 over SE spec on the Coupe, SE Technik adds DVD SatNav, Audi Parking Plus, Cruise and Audi Music Interface (AMI) on top of the regular SE spec.

Prices start at £27,320 for the A5 Sportback 2.0 TDIe 136PS, rising to £31,045 for the A5 Sportback 2.0 TDIe 163PS S line.
