Audi Q3 on the move

It was a very long time coming, but Audi managed to deliver up information and photos on the Q3 yesterday ahead of a launch at the Shanghai Motor Show next week.

But despite the big photo gallery of the Q3 – more than 30 images and three models – there’s nothing like seeing a car on the move to get a proper idea of what it’s about.

So when Audi stumped up the video below we thought it worth a look. It shows the new Audi Q3 out playing on an oval track and also throws in a bit of a walk round, even if it is all a bit too 1990s MTV to let you make any real judgements.

And there’s no doubt Audi are on the money with the Q3. The world and his dog are looking at down-sizing, but most don’t want to give up their toys and a feeling of ‘Premium’.

Maintaining ‘Premium’ whilst going down in size is something Audi understands. They have aimed the Audi A1 at down-sizers and have had some success.

The A1 certainly has the feel of a car several sizes up from where it is, but it is a bit on the pricey side. So much so that we reported back in December that Audi A1 sales were sluggish and many were blaming that on the price.

Still, if you want quality you have to pay, and at an entry price of around £25k (Audi hasn’t given out official UK prices yet, but we do know it will start at €30k in Germany) it’s on a par with the BMW X1, and starts a bit lower than the top-end Tiguans.

It’ll sell. No doubt.
