Audi TT RS (2009) teaser pictures and audio

These are Audi's first (teaser) pictures of its new TT RS. It'll be Ingolstadt's hottest ever TT, with over 300bhp from its 2.5-litre turbocharged engine. To whet your appetite a little further Audi has also released an audio clip of the TT RS in action, which you can listen to here. We'll see the car in full at the Geneva motor show in less than two weeks time.

On the outside the Audi TT RS looks similar to a TTS, but there are enlarged and R8-alike satin black vents up front, a rear 'diffuser', a boot spoiler with more than a whiff of Porsche 911 GT3, and RS-spec twin exhaust pipes and chrome wing mirrors.

The obligatory LED daytime running lights are also present, along with bigger brakes, bigger wheels, plus lowered and stiffened suspension and Audi’s famous Quattro technology.

Under the bonnet you'll find a turbocharged and direct-injection 2.5-litre five-pot motor offering over 300bhp. Audi will reveal the final engine specification at Geneva, but we hear it'll have 340bhp and 333lb ft. This means that the TT RS will be capable of finding 60mph in less than five seconds and carrying on to an artificial limit of 155mph.

The Audi TT RS will find its way to the UK this summer, with an estimated price of around £40,000, putting it into the realms of the Porsche Cayman S and BMW's new top-spec Z4.
