Best 'Popemobile' for Francis

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

As people welcome Jorge Mario Bergoglio as the 266th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, we've been wondering what type of vehicle he'll choose to transport himself.

Francis probably won't request a new set of wheels -- the bestsellingcarsblog.com, the top-selling cars in Argentina as of the end of February were the Chevrolet Classic, VW Gol Power, Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, and the Peugot 207 Compact. None of these seemed regal enough for his holiness in our opinion, though.

Mercedes-Benz has a long history of providing Popemobiles, perhaps the new CLA with its less-luxurious price tag would be perfect for the Papa? But as the first non-European pope in the last 1,200 years, Francis might want to give the nod to an equally non-European manufacturer.

Which non-European luxury car manufacturer could benefit from a solid dose of pious praise? Lincoln. That's it: The next apostolic conveyor should be a white 2013 Lincoln MKZ with the panoramic sunroof. Car-conclave complete; cue the white exhaust.
