Biker receives pinoeering surgery

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

A SURVIVOR of a serious motorcycle accident has had pioneering surgery to reconstruct his face using a series of 3D printed parts.

Stephen Power is thought to be one of the first trauma patients in the world to have 3D printing used at every stage of the procedure. Doctors at Morriston Hospital in Swansea had to break his cheekbones again before rebuilding his face.

Mr Power, 29, from Roath in Cardiff, suffered two broken arms and had his right leg so badly damaged it required a bone graft after the bike crash which happened as he returned from a night out with friends in Porthcawl in September 2012.
