The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition

We confirmed to the world that Bugatti were building a Super-Veyron – The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport – a few weeks ago. We heard from a friend of Cars UK who had placed his order for the 1200hp Super Veyron, so we knew it was real and we knew it would get a few cosmetic tweaks to make it stand out from the regular Veyron, as well as the much anticipated hike to 1200 horses.

A week later we got sent what was claimed to be the first photo of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, but which turned out to be a very impressive rendering by a Hungarian Auto Artist. But now we get the real deal from Bugatti themselves, and news of a limited edition within the limited edition Super Sport – The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition.

To kick off the official publicity for the Veyron Super Sport Bugatti took the first Veyron Super Sport to VW’s Ehra-Lessian track  to see just what it could do. They had a guy from the Guinness Book of Records there and a guy from the German TUV.

The Veyron Super Sport – in the hands of Bugatti test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel – managed two runs of 265.9mph and 269.8mph for an average of 267.81mph – a new production car speed record.

Bugatti are starting production of the Veyron Super Sport this Autumn and as we reported a few weeks ago the Super Sport will debut at Pebble Beach in August. The first five cars will be dubbed World Record Edition and be finished in orange and carbon fibre.

Because you’ll want to see it we’ve put up the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Press release for you to have a shufy at and a handful of photos of the Super Sport below.
