Last Bugatti Veyron Sold

The Bugatti Veyron was never supposed to be a ‘forever’ car. It was, from the very beginning, sold as a Limited Edition of 300 cars.

And now that 300 cars has been reached with the sale to a European customer of the last Bugatti Veyron Coupe. Mind you, the poor man (we’re not sure there’s been a woman prepared to spend so much on a car) will have to wait over a year for it to be built.

In the meantime Bugatti production continues. Because the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport – the one without a roof that costs more than the Veyron with a roof – isn’t included in the 300 Veyrons. Nor is the Veyron Super Sport – the one that goes quicker and costs even more than the one without a roof.

So is this the beginning of the end for Bugatti? No, far from it. In reality it’s probably just the end of the beginning; a beginning that has seen the Bugatti marque finally resurrected as the ‘Best’ car in the world. You don’t really think VW are going to let all that hard work – and all those Euros – go to waste? Oh, no.

In the planning is the 4-door Bugatti Galibier, featuring the same engine as the Veyron but with the volume turned down from 11 to just 9.5.

The Galibier will arrive in 2013 and be followed by a new, lighter, quicker and even more expensive Veyron and – we think – a Bugatti Royale State Limousine. The Bugatti Royale is the only car of the three that is still in flux, but the Galibier and the new Veyron are already in the pipeline.

Panic not. The world’s billionaires will still have somewhere to park their tax savings.
