Buick Verano

Thu, 06 Jan 2011

The Buick Verano will become the GM brand's smallest model when launched at the upcoming NAIAS in Detroit.

Based on the same Delta II platform as the Chevrolet Cruze and Opel/Vauxhall Astra, it is also visually related to the latter, albeit to a lesser degree than its larger Regal sibling is to the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia.

The upper-C-segment Verano's DRG features the familiar 'waterfall' grille, finished in black chrome, blue-lensed projector headlamps and requisite portholes atop its hood.

Its Astra lineage is most obvious in side profile thanks to its diving, four-light DLO and upturned rocker highlight, while its sedan rear is unique to the Buick.

"Verano translates Buick's sculptural design language in a new size, with all the refinement and attention to detail pioneered by the Enclave and LaCrosse," said Dave Lyon, design director.

It interior architecture is also shared with its European brethren, albeit with more 'mature' color and trim.
