Citroen DS3 and DS3 Cabrio ‘Facelift’ revealed

The baby of the DS range – the Citroen DS3 – is still one of our favourite hatches, and although it’s been with us a few years it still feels current. Which perhaps explains why Citroen’s facelift of the DS3 really amounts to not much more than some new posh headlights and some technology and engine updates.

The headline news is the new lighting on the DS3 (although only the DSport gets it as standard) with xenon units with an LED lighting element which, say Citroen, use 35 pe3r cent less power on dipped beam and 75 per cent less on main beam, have a 20,000 hour life (20 times that of a standard halogen bulb) and are derived from the lights on the Numero 9 and Wild Rubis Concepts.

As well as the new lights, the DS3 gets two new 1.6 litre engine options with the Blue HDi 100 turbo promising 94mpg and 79g/km and the more powerful, BlueHDi 120 turbodiesel promising 78mpg and 94g/km. What is even better is the claim that the new engines cut NOx emissions by a whopping 90 per cent. There’s also a new 1.2 litre petrol with 69mpg and 95g/km and a new 5-speed automated manual option.

New options include a laser-etched dash, new colours and new alloys, Active City braking and a reversing camera, a perfect option for the cabrio.

The new Citroen DS3 and DS3 Cabrio go on sale in the UK in July.
