Citroen DS5 – First video tease?
Fri, 27 Aug 2010Citroen DS5 Hybrid diesel electric – is the video below the tease for the concept?
Despite our original scepticism (grumpy old man syndrome) that Citroen were intent on wrecking their history by cashing in on the DS tag – and badge engineering prosaic product with an iconic badge – we’ve been pretty much won over by the first offering from the upmarket DS range – the Citroen DS3.
So we were happy to see Citroen pushing forward with the next in line- the DS4 -with its DS4 / High Rider Concept which we saw at Geneva earlier this year. And we’ve been expecting the next instalment in Citroen’s DS journey to be the production ready DS4 and – thanks to our incredible skills of deduction – the next model in the line up which we’ve managed to work out will be the Citroen DS5.
We first reported on the Citroen DS5 in the Spring of 2009 when Citroen told us they planned on having the DS5 – and a diesel electric hybrid DS5, no less – in showrooms by 2011. We thought the GQbyCitroen might be an unattributed tease when that surfaced earlier this year, but no confirmation from Citroen.
So the release today by Citroen of the video tease you see below surely has to be for the DS5 Concept at the Paris Motor Show in just over a month’s time. Time is running out for Citroen to get the large crossover up and about and in production for 2011, and Paris is their home turf.
Of course, with Citroen shoving out all sorts of bonkers concepts lately this could be a tease for a cheese powered convertible SUV for all we know.
But our money’s on the Citroen DS5 Concept.
