Citroen Launches DS3 Design Competition

Mon, 24 May 2010

Citroën's recently launched DS3 is already infinitely customizable, offering a multitude of options to enable buyers to personalize their vehicles. Now the French automaker is inviting creative visionaries to customize the roof and dashboard of the new car in an international design competition.

Appropriately called the DS3 Design Competition, the contest is open to both budding and experienced designers – anyone wanting to offer their own unique interpretation of the DS3's roof and dashboard. 'Daring' and 'professionalism' are the watchwords of a jury looking for the utmost creativity from candidates.

Designs can be submitted up until the competition's closing date of 4 July 2010. The entries will then be judged by a prestigious panel of experts from the worlds of design, art and media.

The winning designer will be awarded a cash prize and, as an ultimate reward, will also see the design put into production: it will become available in 2011 as part of a special DS3 collection.

Besides the obvious crowd sourcing benefits this initiative will enjoy, the contest will also allow designers to get their work in front of senior figures from GQ, the Cartier Foundation and Louis Vuitton. The winning project will also be presented at C_42, Citroën's international showcase on the Champs Elysees, in October, coinciding with the start of the 2010 Paris motor show.

A series of video 'briefs' will be available on the competition's website – www.citroencreativeawards.com – inviting entrants to bring surprising and refreshing design proposals to the fore.
